The Roaming Cook is a Thai food blog dedicated to my love of Thai food. Here’s a little bit about me and why I started my blog…….
Hi, I’m Gary Butler and I’m obsessed with food, especially Thai food, and Southeast Asian food! Ever since I first stepped foot in Thailand back in 2009 I’ve been in love with the country, the people and most of all the food! So much so that I have been at least once a year ever since and am now packing up my painting and decorating business in London and moving to Bangkok.
I want to show everyone reading this that cooking Thai food doesn’t have to be complicated. In fact, it’s very easy. If I, a 30 something painter and decorator with no formal cooking training can do it, believe me, you can do it! A lot of my recipes take only 20 mins from start to finish so no excuses guys – get cooking!
I always plan my travels around food (sometimes driving my long suffering girlfriend to insanity) so I sometimes end up in places where I don’t see a western tourist for days just to get to taste something I’ve never had before. I want to share these experiences and the recipes I’ve collected along the way with you, not forgetting the obvious Thai classics. I want to get you excited about cooking Thai food!
Make sure to check out my travel page if you also want to plan a trip to Asia around food. As well as tips on where to get the best local food there’s also hotel recommendations so you can get the best deals on your accommodation while you’re travelling.
Whether you want to cook yourself or you’re planning a trip to Thailand and want to know the best places to eat in Bangkok and beyond, we’ve got you covered. At The Roaming Cook, you will find authentic Thai recipes from my travels, reviews of my favourite restaurants and street food stalls well as some unmissable travel tips.
If you have any questions at all please feel free to get in touch via my contact page…….
